What brought you to Crag?: The past couple summers, I have interned with environmental non-profit organizations in Washington D.C. While I really enjoyed learning about policy and spending time on Capitol Hill, I wanted to explore the legal side of environmental work in a new city. I decided to apply to DukeEngage, a Duke University program enabling 400 students each year to do civic engagement work across the globe, and decided on Portland as a sustainable, progressive, and nature-oriented placement city. I read about Crag being a community partner for the program and was really impressed by the organization’s work combatting climate change and preserving wild places. Providing legal aid for the environment, Crag seemed like the perfect place to learn about how to defend our planet and its inhabitants in the courtroom.
What are your environmental/legal interests?: Climate change, forest preservation, wildlife conservation, renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure
Favorite place to recreate or be in nature: Hiking in the forest, rafting, and tubing on a river
Favorite book: Climate of Hope by Michael Bloomberg and Carl Pope – This book, written by the former Mayor of New York City and former President of the Sierra Club, describes a positive vision of cities, businesses, and citizens working together to implement innovative climate solutions which support the economy and public health.
