Eric Wriston

Summer Associate - 2021

Name: Eric Wriston
Education/Professional Background: I have a B.A. in public policy from the University of Michigan and am currently going into my third year at Harvard Law School.
Hometown: Vancouver, WA
What brought you to Crag?: I first heard about Crag as I followed the fight against the Jordan Cove LNG terminal and the associated pipeline. I have a lot of connections to Coos Bay, where the project is proposed, so seeing Crag’s partnership with local groups opposed to the terminal was really meaningful.  As someone who grew up enjoying all the PNW has to offer, Crag’s commitment to the communities it serves and everything they do for people and places around the PNW made it stand out as somewhere I wanted to be.
What are your environmental/legal interests?: I am interested in all things environmental and climate justice and especially issues that involve American Indian law or civil rights law.
What will your work focus on while at Crag?: I am working with Managing Attorney Maura Fahey on a wide range of issues around climate and environmental justice.
Favorite book: Nick Estes, Our History Is the Future: Standing Rock Versus the Dakota Access Pipeline, and the Long Tradition of Indigenous Resistance
Favorite quote: “At first I thought I was fighting to save rubber trees, then I thought I was fighting to save the Amazon rainforest. Now I realize I am fighting for humanity.” – Chico Mendes
