Name: Evelyn Mailander
Education/Professional Background: Earned my B.S. in Anthropology from Oregon State University, and have been working in sustainable food systems more recently.
Hometown: Eugene, OR
What brought you to Crag?: I’m applying to law school to attend in Fall 2021, and I wanted to learn more about environmental law, and what it looks like to be part of an environmental law center. I was drawn to Crag’s focus on communities and their focus on issues close to home for me.
What are your environmental/legal interests?: Sustainable food/agriculture, public lands, environmental justice, environmental stewardship, climate change
What will your work focus on while at Crag?: I will be helping Crag’s development and communications team put together materials for the upcoming WildShots Gala and 20th-anniversary celebration.
Favorite book: So hard to pick just one! A favorite I always come back to is The Book of Delights by Ross Gay. More recently, I loved There There by Tommy Orange.
Favorite quote: “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” – James Baldwin
