DukeEngage Intern - 2018

Name: Haotian Wang
School: Duke University
Hometown: Chengdu, Sichuan, China
What brought me to Crag: DukeEngage is a community service program at Duke that brought me here to work with Crag on environmental justice issues. I am very interested in how several individuals’ idea can evolve to an established non-profit organization grounded both in expertise and grassroots support. It is also an exciting experience to be a contributor instead of a spectator in this fight for better environment.
What are your environmental/legal interests: Environmental justice, social justice, urban growth, legislation versus enforcement, public discourse
Favorite place to recreate or be in nature: In my hometown China, it has to be Qinghai Lake, Qinghai. In the United States, I would nominate Sugar Mountain, Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina
Favorite book: The Origins of Political Order by Francis Fukuyama
Favorite quote: “It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.” in A Tale of Two Cities
