Internships and Fellowships

Through our Emerging Leaders Program, Crag offers a variety of opportunities to train the next generation of environmental advocates. Read our various programs to see how Crag can help you develop your own passion for protecting the environment.
Internship Program

Crag offers a small number of internships year-round working with our development & communications staff and with our staff attorneys. Crag staff have worked with emerging leaders at various stages in their paths – from law school to high school. For the most part, internships working with our legal team are limited to current law students or those seeking a graduate degree in environmental law and/or policy. Non-legal internships are available for those with a variety of backgrounds and opportunities, and these internships usually involve working with our development and communications team.

If you would like to be considered for a non-legal internship, please fill out this form.

If you are a law student interested in a semester internship/externship at Crag, please email Maura Fahey at maura[at]crag.org.

During the School Year – On an ongoing basis, Crag accepts inquiries from interns for volunteer opportunities during the school year. Crag encourages students to get in touch with us before the semester (ideally 3 months) in which you would like to intern with Crag.  For example, for internships in the fall you should contact Crag in the beginning of the summer.   That being said, you are welcome to check with us at any time to see if we have a slot available.

Summer – Most of Crag’s summer internship positions are filled through a competitive application process. For law students, please see below for details about our Summer Associate program. Non law student internship opportunities are also available and are typically focused on communications, events or development. If you are interested in non-legal summer internship opportunities please get in touch with us no later than March, as our summer positions tend to get filled by early spring.

Summer Associates

Through our Summer Associate program, Crag provides opportunities for law students to gain hands-on experience working at a public interest environmental law center with the option of earning academic credit. Law students work one-on-one with a Crag staff attorney, gaining exposure to a full case docket, engaging with clients, and producing legal documents for our active cases.

We are no longer accepting applications for our 2021 Summer Associate positions. Please check back in late-summer for details on how to apply for Summer 2022.

Legal Fellow Program

In recent years, we have developed and grown a successful legal fellowship program that provides young attorneys a unique opportunity to establish a career in public interest environmental law.  Our current Legal Fellow is Teryn Yazdani, who joins us for a two-year fellowship from Septmember 2020 – 2022. Check our Careers page for information on open fellowship positions.
