Part of Crag’s mission has always been training the next generation of environmental leaders and advocates. Our internship and summer associate programs allow students to gain practical experience and learn what it means to be a public interest environmental attorney in Portland.

Many of us on staff also take on mentorship roles outside of our Crag programs. I have been an attorney mentor through Lewis & Clark Law School’s mentor program for the past eight years. It is a real pleasure to get to know new law students and be able to provide my perspective, however helpful it may be, as they meet the challenges that law school can present. This spring, I was honored to receive an award as an outstanding mentor. The relationship I developed with my student mentee this year was very rewarding for me, and I am glad to know that it was helpful for her, too. Dani will be interning at the EPA Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance this summer in Washington, DC. I can’t wait to see what she does next!
