Wild Coast Getaway

From estuaries to forests, cliffs to beaches, Crag works everyday to protect Oregon’s amazing coast for all Oregonians. One of our most lasting victories was securing permanent protections for the Sand Lake Estuary in Tillamook County. With this package, you can explore the 900-acre gorgeous, mysterious, wild-salmon laden natural area by kayak!  

This awesome adventure package gets you into the waterways, up onto cliffs and into Oregon’s special coastal communities. It’s a six-night outing for up to 8, so round up some buddies for an eco-coast getaway to remember!

This package includes:

  • up to a week’s stay in a cliff-side home in Oceanside that sleeps 8 – which you can extend up to a week stay from October – May.
  • a kayak tour for 8 of Tillamook County’s estuaries

Tillamook County Kayak Tour for Eight Guests – You’ll encounter river otters, harbor seals, mink, elk, raptors, and seabirds while paddling your own kayak or sharing a tandem with this tour for eight people on the Oregon Coast. Kayak Tillamook is the oldest and most extensive kayaking guide service on the Oregon Coast, operating over 100 geographic miles from Lincoln City to Cannon Beach. They offer flat-water, sight-seeing, and instructional tours year-round on inland waterways such as coastal bays, rivers, intimate forested sloughs, backwater channels, and freshwater lakes. They are professionally trained, certified and registered with the Oregon State Marine Board. Beginners and novices welcome!

You will get two hours of paddling on a waterway of your choice; half an hour of on-land instruction prior to the tour; trips planned by experts considering coastal tides, river currents and wind patterns; escort by a professionally trained and certified kayaking guide; all equipment provided (kayaks, paddle boards, PDFs, paddles, etc.). From November through March, you’ll get individual thermoses of Organic Hot Apple Cider with a cinnamon stick inside!

Up to a Week Stay in Oceanside  – Get away from it all with a stay at the “Modern Grandma,” a peaceful sanctuary where you can watch whales and bald eagles from the deck, as well as view the Cape Meares Lighthouse. The house sits on a cliff above a secluded beach referred to as either Short Beach or Agate Beach. The kitchen is well stocked with pots/pans, utensils, cutlery and basic cooking supplies like flour and oil. There are two charcoal grills in the garage and a wood burning fireplace on the main floor and a pellet stove on the ground floor for winter coziness. The house sleeps eight guests and has three bedrooms, five beds, and two bathrooms. Enjoy a three-night stay June-September, OR stay up to a week between October and May (excluding major holidays).

Carl Annala is an Oregon native, growing up in McMinnville then moving to Portland to attend Pacific Northwest College of Art. Earning a BFA in Drawing and later an MFA in painting from PSU, Annala has exhibited his art at independent galleries, art fairs and nightclubs since the mid 1980’s. He also is a musician and performance artist, gracing the stage with various acts over the last 30 years, both locally and internationally. All around arts professional, Annala has years of experience in visual arts teaching and administration. His wife of 26 years is also a teacher and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. The couple and their cats enjoy a bungalow on the east side of My Tabor in the quaint Montavilla neighborhood of Portland.
